Idaho Falls Winter Engagements

I have to tell you a sad truth. When it comes to engagement sessions in Idaho Falls, you will most likely be doing winter engagements if you are having a spring or summer wedding. While cold, they can be beautiful and filled with so much personality and fun. As with the case with Silana and Ian, and their winter engagement session at a tree farm in Idaho Falls. When it comes to winter weather, you might even get lucky and get a little snow flurry in the weather forecast. I love shooting in pine trees during the winter because of the deep colors and vibrancy it adds to the photos. If you are going to be cold, at least embrace the winter vibe.

Engagement Wardrobe Advice from an Engagement Photographer

Here is the advice I give all my couples when they book an engagement session with me.

Outfits: have at least two different outfits for variety in your session. I love to focus on something dressier and than something more casual. In the winter, it’s awesome to layer up and add fun scarves or hats. Bring a blanket. Texture and color can be important with the overall look of your engagement photos. You can check out my Pinterest board I’ve compiled for different outfit ideas. And of course, I will happily help you with ideas when we discuss locations. Of course, number one importance to be sure that you are comfortable and reflecting your style.

Things to Avoid: shirts or clothing with really close linear pattern. This creates an affect in the camera called moire, which looks like oil on water. It can be fixed with some difficulty in editing, but I prefer to avoid the mistake overall. Vibrant, fluorescent colors, like neons, can cast onto your face, especially under your chin, and create really awful skin colors. Neutrals not only look really great on wedding invitations but also are beautiful for skin tones.

Engagement and Wedding Posing

I love seeing how couples interact with each other. Every individual and couple carries themselves differently and each session is a different experience. I allow couples to be themselves and interact, tease, and love on each other. But also offering small adjustments so that you always look your best. Sometimes something simple as adjusting your weight away from the camera is all you need to have the perfect photo. I have traditional poses as well as fun, interactive poses. When it comes to working with me for your engagement session or wedding, you will NEVER feel weird in front of the camera.

Of course, we can do engagements all year round and my turn around time is so fast. Most of my wedding packages include an engagement option. It’s an amazing way for us to get comfortable with each other before your wedding day.

Winter is engagement time in Idaho. I love this winter engagement session with Sydney and Caleb at Island Park. If you want to check out the prettiest fall engagements be sure to peak in on Amparo and Omar here.
