I realized the other day that this wedding photographer job has given me a lot of opportunity to explore. I know where some great mountain views are. And I can think of several instances where I am waiting for clients to show up and I can just sit in the quiet around me peacefully. Nature, Idaho, really is amazing. Such was the case with Julia and Caleb’s bridal session at Gibson Jack Trailhead in Pocatello. I have never done a session there before and left in enough time that I would be able to explore the area and get familiar with the landscape. As I walked, I was thinking how awesome this area was. I was grateful for the time I had to walk and look and smell. (I really miss smell. I haven’t been able to smell in over 6 months due to Covid.)
Gibson Jack Pocatello Trailhead
I’ve done some mountain biking occasionally and this area is one that I want to come back to and explore. Or even a day hike with my husband, David, if I could convince him to do this area that rated difficult. 😀 (Julia remembered her veil halfway through the session and I ran back to the parking lot to get it. It’s a great running trail too.)  It’s got a variety of june grass, sage, buckbrush and pine trees. I love getting variety of different photos during my session and usually am looking for ways to layer to make the photo more interesting. We didn’t walk far down the trail but in the small area we worked with the trees were vibrant with fall colors, the grass offered that soft autumn yellow I love, and the pines gave the punch of green I adore. Plus there was Julia and Caleb. Every couple I work with has a different vibe they put off. These two aren’t giggly and silly in love, but are more reserved, still, thoughtful and deep. They were easy to be around, and such a beautiful, handsome couple. They are high school sweethearts. And I just smile thinking of all the time they will have growing and learning together. I’ve wanted to blog their wedding at the Barn on 1st for awhile but felt I needed to show their bridals first.
