Grand Teton National Park Family Session
Looking for the perfect spot for a family session in Grand Teton National Park? It’s Schwabacher Landing. Probably the strangest name, but trust me — it’s beautiful. I had the best time capturing this family at Schwabacher’s Landing. We had a big storm rolling in over the mountains and right at the end it was raining along the Teton ridge line which made for the coolest ending to our family session. I would love to shoot more family sessions in Grand Teton National Park. A beautiful background adds so much to family photos.
Schwabacher’s Landing Family Photos
Schwabacher’s Landing is one of my absolute favorite family photo locations near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. While it’s part of Grand Teton National Park, it doesn’t require a park pass to enjoy. With a stunning view of the Teton and the majestic mountains, it also boasts beautiful sagebrush, pine trees, and the Snake River. It has a beautiful mix of water, grasses, trees and mountain views. The mountain views are the most iconic view in the park of the Tetons. It has a small dirt parking lot that can get pretty busy in the middle of the day. However, since it doesn’t have any lengthy trails coming off of the parking lot, the traffic stays to a minimum.
As with all my family photos, I try to get a mix of traditional look at the camera smiling ones and connection. My goal above all is to document your family in an authentic way that shows how you love each other.
Best Time of Family Photos
When planning your summer family photography session at Schwabacher Landing in Grand Teton National Park, timing is everything to capturing photos with the perfect light. My favorite time as a photographer is at sunrise and sunset as they offer the most magical lighting conditions for your photographs. During these golden hours, the sun casts a warm, soft glow over the landscape, enhancing the natural beauty of the area and providing a soft light to light our faces.
Doing a sunrise session not only rewards you with the serene beauty of the first light touching the Tetons, which can be magical with pink and yellow colors, but also offers the chance to enjoy Schwabacher’s Landing before the day’s visitors arrive. The calm waters of the Snake River often create a perfect, glassy reflection of the majestic mountains, adding an extra layer of magic. On the other hand, scheduling your session around sunset brings a different kind of enchantment. As the sun dips behind the Tetons, it paints the sky in vibrant hues and bathes the landscape in a golden radiance, offering a dramatic and captivating setting for your family portraits. Also, your family will be backlit, which is the best lighting for portrait work.
