Once a long, long time ago before I became an Idaho Falls wedding photographer, I was an Idaho Falls District 91 art teacher. I loved it. I got to teach some extremely cool kids art and history and it was fun to be the “cool teacher.” At least, that’s what I was in my head. Haha. I have gotten to do a few of my student’s weddings over the years (I hope to share them once I get more of my blog up and running.) It is one of my favorite things to date! It’s amazing to see these students turn into adults, pick majors in college, get married, start families, and find jobs that suit their strengths and passions.
Nathan was one of my students. I’ve been able to photograph him and his family on and off through the years. He is smart, determined, detail-orientated, and apparently very talented at something I am totally inept at: Landscape Design. (Nathan you need to come save my yard!) He is set to graduate from BYU-I. I was beyond thrilled when he asked me to photograph his wedding and I went immediately to his facebook wall to see the lucky girl who snagged the heart of one of my favorite students. Ta-da: TORI. Heart eyes all around! She’s adorable, has one of the best smiles I have ever seen, and is the type of person you instantly want to be friends with. She’s graduated in elementary education but works at Reed’s Dairy as the Regional Manager (which gets so many Office jokes running through my head.) I just simple love these two. I can’t wait to work with them this year for their wedding. And their story is cute. They knew each other in high school and wrote each other while Nathan served a mission for his church. They went on dates on and off for years. YEARS! And as Nathan describes it, he was just confused and stupid. Haha. I’m glad Tori saw a good thing and kept at him because they make the most adorable and sweet couple.
I was able to get some photos of Nathan proposing to Tori at Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls. Nathan’s family swooped in and in record speed constructed an arch for Nathan to propose under. And just like that disappeared. Tori arrived minutes later and I don’t know what was said because I was on the other side of the river/stream but I couldn’t help but smile at Nathan’s nervous body language. I could tell it was heartfelt, pure, and full of sweetness. I was so excited! Gah, and look at that ring!
From Snake River Landing, we were able to set up their engagements in Swan Valley. Because of all the dust from 4-wheelers we got the most beautiful atmospheric sunset and along with the mountains, I couldn’t love this session more. Thank you Nathan and Tori for letting me be part of this special time in your life. I could not be more honored.
That’s all folks! Be sure to check out this engagement if you want more.
